There's Only One Reason To Learn Jitterbug

If there is one dance that Lani and I really enjoy on the dance floor, it's the Swing, Whether it be the Jitterbug (Single Time Swing) or the East Coast Swing (Triple Time Swing). Of course, the music and the beat of the music has nearly everything to get us in motion. As Dr. Jitterbug says, "It's the Potion that gets you in Motion." The Golden '50s era produced a whole lot of upbeat Swing music. That's when Swing was Golden and partners danced touching each other. Then in the '60s came the Twist which then showed a steady decline of Swing dancing. The style of dancing changed. People didn't touch each other anymore. NOTHING wrong with dancing the Twist. Lani and I enjoy dancing it, too. The Rock & Roll of the 70s revived Swing dancing due to the TV shows American Grafitti and Happy Days. Today Swing dancing is very popular among the younger generation and the Senior Teenagers. Lani and I have a good mixture of those generations in our Jitterbug and East Coast Swing dance class and they are "rocking" to the upbeat Golden '50s REET PETITE. Other tunes that will put you in the groove are TRICKLE TRICKLE and ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK to name a few. Main thing is to have have fun dancing.

Our Divino Ritmo Dance 7th Annual Grand Ball & Showcase is coming up this Saturday (Jan 16) and we have an exciting young professional couple coming to perform for us - US & WORLD Smooth Finalists, YEGOR NOVIKOV & ALEXANDRA SMIRNOVA.

WORKSHOPS on Sunday Jan 17th @ Aloha DANCESPORT Center, 200 Ward Ave., 2nd Floor (across from Sports Authority):

There will be Smooth and International Latin Workshops by YEGOR & ALEXANDRA held on Sunday January 17th only at Aloha Dancesport Center. Take this opportunity to meet them and learn, before they return to the mainland.

3pm American Smooth- technique and styling
4pm International Latin- technique and principles. YEGOR will be available for coaching/private lessons as well.

DRD Cupola Canceled This Week

Divino Ritmo's monthly Dancing @ the CUPOLA  will continue as usual in 2016, 

first Thursday of the month, But NOT in January. 

We will start our 2016 CUPOLA social dancing on Thursday,  February 4th!

Right now we are getting ready to give you a SHOW at our 7th Annual Grand Ball 

@ the Sheraton Waikiki on Saturday, January 16th.
