Dance Hawaii Prez Maurice Morita's Message

WASABI FUNDRAISER SUCCESSFUL
Nearly 400 Dance Hawaii members, other dance clubs members, family, and friends popped in to our 1st WASABI FUNDRAISER at Aliamanu Middle School cafeteria.

Decorations chair Cora Nieto & her committee members (balloon girl Lucille Nakamoto) did an excellent job(we had a lot of good comments as to how we decorated the cafeteria); Thank you to the members who came out at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday to set up for the night's event. GOOD JOB GANG!

Sharon Nakai, Refreshments Chair, and her committee members (including her classmates) did a good job taking care of the sandwiches, chili and rice/hot dog, many desserts, etc. The members as well as our friends(Aiea Ballroom Dance Club Arthur & Joan Oda-owners of the New Aala Bakery in Liliha) came through with more refreshments that killed our worries if we would have enough refreshments (Thank you members & friends). To Rudy Luat, Pan Pacific President, for obtaining the New Aala Bakery donation.

Sisters Harriet Kihara & Marion Iwasaki for taking cafe of the registration table making sure everyone got tagged with a red wrist band, For many members who help the "two sisters," thank you very much.

Tony Alcover and his crew for taking care of the parking ( the parking lot was filled all the way to the Salt Lake Library. Good job Tony and gang.

Chris Ano and his two good lookiing sons and the rest of our members and friends for setting up and cleaning up. Terrific Job! I cannot leave out the two key guys,
Chair Melvin Nakagawa & Vice Chair James Brierly. Good Job Mel & Jim! Mel Nakagawa has to be the top ticket seller, who sold nearly 100 tickets at the WASABI shows at various sites prior to our event on June 5th and who took care of the finances as Treasurer, too. Jim Brierly was also in charge of "Ticket Distribution". To the many members who helped sell tickets to their friends and family members. Good job gang!

For our Music DJ Andy Pascua who played dance music for us during the WASABI breaks.

Of course, the main stars of this event, the members of WASABI and their leader, Doreen Nakamoto! We had a special guest singer, Nick Sierra, son of instructors Frank & Lani Sierra.

DA WINAS of the best dress looking nifty 50's & 60's - $25.00 gift certificates to Deanie Bates, President of he Aiea Ballroom Dance Club; Junie Sato; and Sharon Nakai.
